Facebook

Hi everyone today I’m going to talk about Facebook. I'm not a person who cares to check Facebook profile; I mostly spend my profile to keep in touch with my friends who are far away and also to hear news of music or art, because they are things that are updated frequently.

When I post something in general is a music video or pictures with my friends or travel pictures.  The big reason that am not fan of Facebook is because I have friends, very old friend that post everything, the food that they ate, the party that they will go, and so many thing that am not interested in know.

I prefer use my Facebook for fun, to laugh of stupid thing like memes or watch funny videos.

I like meet with my friends and goes out in real life, not find them online. I hate when my friends are all the time in his cell phones check his profile or WhatsApp. Recently my mom also is all day playing with her phone, and really annoying me.

I hope that in the future  people have bored of Facebook, but I don’t think that happens…

My favourite book

Ok, it’s complicated to me think in my favourite writer or book. Definitely my favourite book of all time is Harry Potter, I read the first one of the saga when I was a child, I think when I had 10 years and then I read the rest of them posterior years. I like fantasy and science fiction, but when you grow up people think that you are ridiculous if you like these things.

Last year I worked in FILSA (Feria Internacional del Libro de Santiago). I sold books from a Chilean publisher. One day there was a book signing in other stand of the fair; hundred persons form a row, maybe not hundred but many of them. When I finished my turn, my brother came to find me and he gives me the book of the signing as a gift. The book was “Joven y Alocada” written by Camila Gutierrez. Before that I went to the cinema to see the movie of this book. I like the way that the screenwriter, the author of the book, narrates the film.  Is one of my favourite books now, I find it hilarious.

Hans Rudolf Giger

Hello classmates, today I’d like to talk about of the most important artist to me, I really admire his job. Last post I talk about Javier Marin because I think he is amazing, but this post is related to something important to art and I think this artist is.

The extraordinary Swiss artist Hans Rudolf Giger died 12 may 2014 because of a fall at age 74. His work has been called "surreal" by some critics, but his art work is associated rather the term "biomechanical" by the constant conjunction of hybrid organic machines.

HR Giger's influence on the film had its peak in 1979 Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, a film that won the Oscar for best special effects. Other films in which he worked are Species, Poltergeist II, Dune and latest Prometheus other film who is also directed by Ridley Scott. Giger was the creator of the esthetic that fuses technology and cosmic horror.

But Giger's work also includes the concept for music videos and even decoration is a big referent for industrial design.  This is a picture of  the cover of the album KooKoo (1981) of Debbie Harry.

Javier Marín

Javier Marín is an sculptor from México. I met this artist on Facebook, he show up in my suggested friends long time ago. I saw his picture of profile and felt curiosity about the things that he made, are biggest and really beautiful sculptures.

His technique it’s wonderful. He handle many materials like bronze, polyester resin mixed with organic materials like snuff, earth, amaranth seeds, roses petals or dried meat fibers. It’s amazing, he works with large-scale pieces and puts them on street intervening public space.

Javier Marín's work revolves around the human being, the forms are organics. He shows a magnificence living things, violated and broken figures but no fragile, it’s the entire opposite are stronger and thundering.

I think this artist is important to art, because nowadays it’s difficult to found sculptors that work with such a traditionalist technique. In these days the things are more conceptual, the development of the piece is not important anymore. Everybody should looking at in his website;

I love him.
